Always Choose To Use Your Discretionary Power Positively

People notice how you use your discretionary power. By that, I mean how you choose to provide, or not provide, high quality service. Or the attitude with which you choose to respond to a colleague’s requests. It’s human nature to base everything, from buying decisions to who we promote, on how we feel about the other.

In your interactions with customers, colleagues, clients – everyone you encounter – it’s important to engage with emotional intelligence. Regardless of how you feel about the person, or the situation, be sensitive to the impact of your actions and reactions.

Commit to yourself to always provide excellent service and support. Respond to customers and colleagues with interest and enthusiasm. Treat everyone as if you care about them and your personal brand. If you choose to not care, it will show and damage your reputation and credibility in ways that are difficult to overcome.
