Do you struggle with asking for help?  Sometimes we believe — incorrectly — that we should have all the answers. Or that asking for help is a sign that we are weak or ineffective.  In both cases, just the opposite is true.  Asking for help is natural, normal and, often times, just what your situation warrants.

The next time you’re working on a project and you’ve tried all you can think of, don’t give up.  Identify someone you trust and ask them for guidance.  Be prepared with specific questions that will address the trouble you’re having.  Explain what you’ve tried and why you think it failed.

Stay focused on learning and growing. The experience others can share is as important as classroom learning.  Finally, report back and let the person know that you valued their time and suggestion.  It’s a great way to build a supportive, lasting relationship.
