We’re a month into year two of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Recovery from deep disruption of incredibly fast-moving change is just beginning.

Looking to the future, McKinsey suggests speed will be a defining feature of the new normal for companies interested in long-term resiliency and sustainability.  The need for speed will likely stretch production capacity and could strain the workforce.  Employee health, safety, emotional wellbeing and the potential for burnout, may require special consideration.

Effective response to the need for speed will require socially responsible organizations to shore up safety protocols and proactively support the psychological wellbeing of their workforce – all with deliberate, mindful consideration of the disparate impact – economic and psychological – borne by people of color, women, small businesses, front-line workers and low-wage earners.
