New Traditions to Boost Morale
A recently promoted coaching client was surprised to find that her new group of all highly skilled professionals didn’t operate as a team. Her approach to strengthening teamwork was simple and effective.
1. During weekly meetings, she had the team identify and discuss the linkage between their various, individual work-streams, as well as broader organizational goals. Synergies began to emerge.
2. She instituted a tradition of celebrating birthdays and milestone anniversaries with a card signed by the team.
3. At the conclusion of significant departmental projects and important personal achievements, she treated the group to lunch.
4. At least once a quarter, she invited the team out for happy hour.
After months of staying true to the traditions, everyone began to feel more connected to the whole.
