The presence of increasing numbers of women and millennials in the workplace has had a massive impact on the way leaders behave.  Authoritarianism, backed by fear and the boss having all the answers, was once a prime force.

Today’s effective leaders operate differently.  They’re emotional intelligent.  They recognize that one of the most important roles they play is managing conflicts not creating them.  They’re inspirational and motivational.  They value those with whom they interact, understanding that people are a core asset rather than just another annoyance in their otherwise peaceful and productive day.

Today’s smart leaders listen to people at all levels of the organization.  They acknowledge that every person and position – from the mailroom to the C-Suite – plays an important role in the company’s success.  To today’s emotionally intelligent leaders, no one’s feedback is less important than anyone else’s.  Everyone counts.
