In a stimulating TED Talk, Eddie Obeng describes what he calls, “smart failure for a fast-changing world.”  He presents several ideas, which impact every business, and about which it’s good to be reminded.

He says, yesterday’s correct answers are not today’s…no solution lasts forever; many of our good ideas and plans are obsolete before they’re even implemented; the pace of change has overtaken the pace of learning…it’s difficult to impossible to keep current; we solve problems for today, without sufficient thought about how that solution might play in the yet-to-be-created future.

His suggestion?  For any idea, decision or plan that seems right, sensible and rational, given what you know today, ask the question, “I wonder if this also makes sense in our new world.”
