As part of its Diversity and Inclusion program, does your organization celebrate the many social changes and achievements spurred by the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.? If so, join in! If not, here are a few ideas to consider…many of which are utilized by some of the country’s largest companies.

  • Host an educational event featuring a speaker who shares stories about the civil rights movement, past and present.
  • Get your Employee Resource Group to organize a lunch and learn. Play Dr. King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech and brainstorm ideas for constructive actions you can take.
  • Participate in a day of service. Paint the house of a person in need. Help Habitat for Humanity. Volunteer at a soup kitchen or shelter for the homeless. Clean up a city block, park or playground.

In the spirit of Dr. King’s legacy, use your energy and talent in service to the greater good of all, particularly the more vulnerable among us.
