If you lead a team, or an entire organization, think about setting a company-wide New Year’s resolution – one that will help to build a strong, positive and inclusive culture. Here’s the way one of my clients approached it.

He started an all-hands meeting by expressing excitement about the year ahead. Then, he talked about how each person plays a role in making the company more productive and efficient, more inclusive and respectful, more collaborative and empowering. He invited volunteers to give examples.

Then, he charged everyone in the room to think of themselves as leaders, people of influence, and to be mindful of how they show up every day. He asked them, no matter their level, to do to one thing every day to let colleagues know they’re appreciated and their efforts matter.

This is a great way to set a team 2019 resolution that makes everyone responsible for co-creating a work environment they feel good about.
