Activist & Black Panther Eldridge Cleaver is credited with first saying “Your either part of the solution or your part of the problem.” Today, those words are often heard in association with employees and their role within a company.

So, how do you know if you’re on the solution or problem side of the equation? Problem-focused people give their attention to what’s wrong and who is to blame. They complain, criticize and pine away for the good old days.

Solution-focused people recognize the problem, but they embrace the opportunity to solve it. They see issues and crisis as evidence of the need for change. With that recognition, they turn their attention to figuring out the fix and how to bring it to life.

Which are you? Part of the problem or the solution? As Henry Ford said, “Don’t find fault, find a remedy.”
