“Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.” Those are the words of Lou Holz, former football player, coach and speaker. They’re also a great jumping off point for self-assessment.

Take the time to ask yourself these three questions.

  • Am I using my abilities to shape the life I want?
  • Am I motivating myself to achieve the goals I’ve been thinking or talking about?
  • Does my attitude reflect my belief that I can achieve the things to which I aspire?

That last question is critical. Some may think our attitude is a response to the way others see us and treat us. But in truth, attitude is an outward manifestation of our inner belief that we can and deserve to succeed.

So, assess your abilities. Put the conditions in place that will motivate you to achieve. And, adopt the attitude, the belief, that you can do whatever you desire.
